To start the conversation about Land Acknowledgement statements, I produced the above draft. In my experience, people often need a draft to respond to, in order to get the ball rolling and the juices flowing. In the end, this project was taken up by the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee and rewritten. Even though my initial draft did not survive, it fulfilled its purpose to jumpstart the active creation of a much needed piece of messaging.
